Botox®

Botox is a purified protein, Botulinum A toxin, that blocks nerve impulses responsible for muscle contraction. It is very useful to soften dynamic wrinkles -

Those wrinkles caused by muscle movement e.g. the frown,forehead lines and smile lines around the eyes. The procedure has been performed on more than 4 million patients worldwide.Botox takes effect 3-5 days after injecting and optimal results are achieved ± 14 days after the treatment. The effects last betwen 4-8 months depending on individual metabolisms, habits and the dosage injected. With prolonged usage, muscles become weaker and injections become are needed less frequently. Botox is also used to treat migraines and excessive sweating.

Botox can be used from the age of 16 to 96.

It is not suitable for patients with an existing bacterial infection, taking antibiotics, pregnant or nursing women, alcoholic patients, patients with bleeding disorders and with neuromuscular disorder, e.g. myasthenia gravis.

What are the side effects?
A little bruising at the sight of injection is possible and will disappear in a matter of days. Patients can expect to feel a tightening in the treated area from approximately day three and visual results from about day five onwards.Paracetamol is sufficient to treat any headaches due to the treatment.In rare cases a slight drooping of the eyelid can be successfully be treated with eye drops.
